Emmy-nominated screenwriter Kristin Tucker is set to write the script for the Netflix original Redd Zone. This true story, starring Jada Pinkett Smith and directed by Oscar-winning director Matthew Cherry, centers around a mother who opens up her home to 17 of her sons’ high school, football teammates “The Bros,” after the tragic murder of their best friend Dominic Redd. Amidst the compassionate and nurturing support of Tia Magee, the single mother, played by Smith, all 17 young athletes eventually attend college with four making it to the NFL. The movie is a heartfelt tribute to the memory of Dominic Redd.

Last year, Kristin was nominated for an Emmy for her writing contributions to HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show. She’s also a writer for the HBO series, The Flight Attendant. Additionally, Kristin’s credits include Disney Channel’s A Dog With a Blog, writers’ assistant for Black Monday starring Don Cheadle, and work on a Kevin Hart project at Hart Beat Productions.

A Dallas native, Kristin graduated with honors from The Hockaday School. She attended Georgetown University on a four-year, academic scholarship and University of Southern California where she graduated phi beta kappa, magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Communication. Later, she earned a Master of Arts in Screenwriting from The University of Texas at Austin.
