If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Goal

This month, we are praying and preparing our hearts and minds to re-enter the sanctuary. We cannot return to our sanctuary the way we departed.

Rev. Susan C. StephensOur pastor and founder Rev. Susan C. Stephens was called into ministry in May 1998. She preached her first public sermon at Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas, TX, on October 14, 1998. On December 31, 1998, she was licensed to preach the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ by Rev. Dr. Fredrick D. Haynes III, the senior pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church. On January 17, 2000, Rev. Stephens was ordained by Rev. Dr. Haynes. On August 2nd of the same year, she was appointed as the first female minister on the staff to the position of Pastor of Outreach Ministries Friendship-West Baptist Church, where she served until 2007.

Rev. Stephens is a graduate of Southern Bible Institute of Dallas, and is currently matriculating at Dallas Baptist University where she is a candidate for Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education.

Rev. Stephens is co-founder of the Daughters of Thunder Conference and founder of the Talitha Koum Ministry. She is also the founder and director of national award winning Dallas Dazzlers Dance Company. Rev. Stephens was awarded the Dallas ISD’s Volunteer of the Year Award in 2004 by David W. Carter High School. She was the winner of Miss Essence of Dallas, TX, in 2006. She was the first African American female preacher to receive the NAACP Juanita Craft Award in the field of Religion in 2003.

Rev. Stephens has spoken at numerous community events and conferences across the United States, giving hope to the hopeless. Her favorite scripture is Psalm 34:1, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praises shall continually be in my mouth!”

Rev. Susan Stephens is the mother of three children: Andre, Jamika, and Jammeila. She is also the grandmother of three grandsons and two granddaughters. As the senior pastor of the Lake West Evangelistic Community Church, God has grown the church through love, evangelism, teaching, and outreaching from 12 pioneers, making the journey to the West Dallas Community. It is truly a church on a mission.
