Holy Spirit and Bible

Let’s give God some praise for the successful completion of our first Holy Ghost Academy.

As your pastor, I strive to ensure that we are educated and informed on Bible-based, Christian living.

The Holy Ghost Academy is a vision from God brought to reality. As a lifelong Methodist, I know that any discussion of the Holy Ghost tends to intimidate and infuriate because there is a lack of education.

Our class faithfully plunged into Pneumatology, which is the theology of the Holy Ghost, for the past four weeks on Wednesday via Zoom. The students came with an excitement to learn more about this mysterious, often misunderstood Holy Ghost.

Robert and I were honored to lead the class and we learned a lot along the way. We constantly reminded the class that none of us are experts on the Holy Ghost. We serve a Triune God beyond our comprehension. Our attempts to wrap our finite minds around the infinite are impossible, but the attempts demonstrate our love and devotion to our God, and they strengthen our faith.

Some of the topics discussed included:

  • Who is the Holy Ghost?
  • The Holy Ghost in the Old Testament
  • The Holy Ghost in the New Testament
  • Jesus and the Holy Ghost
  • Signs that you have the Holy Ghost
  • Gifts of the Holy Ghost

The goal of the academy is to prepare and propel Christians deeper into their faith so that they may serve as a blessing to the body of Christ, so the Holy Spirit may richly dwell in them and, they can operate in their Spiritual gifts.

I leave you with one of favorite scripture on the Holy Spirit found in Psalm 139:7-12

7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? 8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. 9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. 11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” 12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
