From the Pastor
Dr. Sheron C. Patterson

Church Family, we live by the word of God, and we are told in Ecclesiastes 3:1 that “there is a season and time for every purpose under heaven.” With that understanding, I am announcing the end of Rev. Nerrisa Grigsby’s season at Hamilton Park UMC effective June 30, 2021. Her final sermon for our congregation will be Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Arapaho UMC at 1:30 pm. Please remember that our services continue to be streamed.

She came to us as an Intern from Perkins School of Theology and all of us fell in love with her charisma, her preaching, and her love for the Lord. After graduating from Perkins, Rev. Grigsby served for two years as the Young Adult Pastor, and provided excellent leadership to our Young Adults.

Rev. Grigsby is not leaving because she is upset or mad about anything. She has determined that she has too much on her plate, and she cannot continue to spread herself thin. She is a full time Doctor of Ministry student at Perkins School of Theology, and a full-time manager at Wells Fargo Bank. We all can understand the need to preserve ourselves, right?

Please have no concerns about the Young Adult Ministry at The Park. The Young Adults remain a top priority. The Staff Parish Relations Committee, (SPPRC) is working with the Young Adults to interview eligible candidates to fill the position. The second Sunday of each month will continue to be Young Adult Sunday, and Young Adult Pastors will preach for the congregation.

You are invited to show your love to Rev. Grigsby by taking part in a drive-by, parking lot farewell reception on Sunday, June 13, 2021, immediately following the 1:30 worship at Arapaho UMC, 1400 Arapaho Road, Richardson, TX. Feel free to come by with kind words, a note, a gift card or whatever you feel expresses your appreciation for this young and gifted minister.
