Lenten Season

The Lenten season is a 40-day period for personal and corporate spiritual renewal. It is a time for intense study of God’s word, prayer, fasting, and self-examination. Lent begins on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. We will observe an Ash Wednesday worship service from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will have our foreheads marked with ashes to signify that we are marked as a believer. Lent will end on Easter Sunday. We will have a Sunrise Service and a 10:00 a.m. service.

There are three ways you can plunge into the Lenten Season:

  1. Take advantage of our church-wide prayer calendar. Each week, our prayers will focus on one vital topic for believers.
  2. Attend the weekly Wednesday evening Lenten Bible Study, which will take place beginning March 13, 2019, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  3. Join the church-wide Lenten fast by denying yourself something of value to you. Many of us will be taking part in the Daniel Fast.

We do all of this to identify with the suffering and death of Jesus. During Lent, we seek to be crucified with Christ.

Whatever you do, do something! It will be a shame to ignore the call of Christ during the Lenten season and show up on Easter Sunday saying, “He has risen!”
