There are fierce storms encircling our Black men. Although we do not need our experiences validated by a study, a Washington Post/Kaiser Family Foundation/Harvard study found that “more black men than white men report having a close friend or relative who was murdered (61% and 29% respectively), wrongfully arrested (31% and 16%), or the victim of a violent crime (25% and 18%).”
These reasons and more led to the theme for Men’s Month, “Brothers Standing Strong in the Storms.” This title is based on 1 Corinthians 16:13, which reads, “Keep alert, stand firm, be courageous, be strong.” God has gifted us with four dynamic speakers to present solutions to the storms. Those speakers are: Greg Ellis, John Wiley Price, Rev. Michael Waters, and Robert Patterson.
I am asking you to bring as many men as you can to church each Sunday. Grab a cousin, brother, nephew, or neighbor. Let’s pack the pews with men and watch the Lord do miracles.
