September 17, 2017: Three Dreaded Words

PastorPastor's Blog

Pastor's Update

There are three dreaded words that no one wants to hear during a doctor’s visit: “You have cancer.” Those words were spoken to me ten years ago when after my annual mammogram. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and by the grace of God, I survived and even thrived. Yet, the experience of battling cancer and winning changed me forever.

Because of cancer I celebrate life more. I don’t sweat the small stuff. I keep an attitude of gratitude. Most importantly, I am actively involved in helping women with low incomes and no incomes receive free mammograms. Early detection saves lives. I take part in numerous fundraisers regarding breast cancer.

I am asking The Park to join my team at the 5K walk/run at the 16th Annual Sister to Sister Fitness Festival on October 7, 2017, at 8:00 a.m. in Cedar Hill at the Cedar Hill Recreation Center, 310 East Parkerville Road. This event is sponsored by Celebrating Life, a nonprofit that gives women battling cancer financial assistance. I need you on my team. To sign up please visit www.itsyourrace.com.

Be sure to join my team, The Park. It does not matter whether you walk or run, you will have fun at this very soulful and beneficial event that helps so many.

Your Pastor,
Dr. Sheron C. Patterson
